The website of WGGC has been published in Internet in January 1997, more than 25 years ago.
At the very beginnings, from January 1997 to 1999, it was available at the URL http://www.ec.unipi.it/~genconv/
During year 2000 it was available at the URL http://genconv.ec.unipi.it/
In 2001 the WGGC finally got its own domain and the website started being available at https://www.genconv.org/
The website moved a couple of times during its 25 years lifespan.
January 1997 – July 2009
The website was written and maintained by Riccardo Cambini, hosted by the University of Pisa (Italy) and coded in HTML. It was very simple as shown by the 1997 homepage and by the 2006 homepage. In this period the email address of the WGGC was genconv@ec.unipi.it
July 2009 – June 2023
The website moved to Greece, in the hands of Nicolas Hadjisavvas and George Pyrounakis, hosted by the University of the Aegean. The email address of the WGGC became genconv@aegean.gr
The website was completely revamped (see the 2022 homepage), based on Joomla CMS and written with modern features.
June 2023 – ???
The website of WGGC moves back to Riccardo Cambini and is hosted by an italian commercial service provider. The email address of the WGGC becomes info@genconv.org
The website is rewritten again using WordPress CMS.
The website of WGGC has been maintained by George Pyrounakis for 14 years. He has been always available and ready to help. The whole WGGC community is grateful to George for his great job and his devotion to the working group.
Dear George, thank you so much for your job, your kindness and your help, who kept alive the WGGC and its website in these last 14 years.
